Bio

I was Born in a refugee camp in Hong Kong. My family, mother and father, were sponsored by a Canadian family to come live here in Canada. During the early years of school, I got picked on school because my name, Thang, depending on how you pronounce it, sounds like the word “tongue” or could be used in the phrase “wild thang“, which bothered me at the time. So I changed my name to Jerry, from the Tom and Jerry Show.

My parents didn’t care too much on who was over at my house, so my room became a big hit amount kids seeking a place to play video games. The collection of games, which everyone helped contribute, grew throughout the years. I begged my mother to get me a computer around grade 9 so that I could study better. Ever since that point, I have been a fixture in front of my computer: Star Craft, Counter-Strike, IRC, Anime, and eventually MMOs.

I fanatically played EverQuest off and on for a period of 5 years. Every time that I would quit, I would sell off my virtual armour for thousands of dollars. I decked my room with the latest gadgets for everyone to enjoy. I got my first digital camera, $500, with my first cheque of around $3000. Everyone but my friends thought I sold drugs, because they didn’t believe anyone purchased virtual items.

That is when nattsumi.com was born. Initally, the site featured local artists’ artwork and embarrassing photos of my friends. But then later progressed into an actual blog. Web design motivated me to continue and learn more about this new language of HTML.

My family moved to Vancouver near a high school so that my brother could finish up high school. During this time I fanatically played FFXI, which would continue on for the next 3 years. During the time of my addiction to FFXI, I forgot to pay the bills for my nattsumi.com domain, so a company took over my domain. That is why I currently run nattsumi.ca.

I was so emotionally attached to FFXI that when we defeated the biggest monster in the game and I did not receive the armour, I quit the game. Which lead to many great things, such as getting a real job, increase in my GPA, time to explore the rest of the internet, and of course, meeting Michelle, who is now my fiancée.

That about sums up the history of my life. Enjoy my blog =)

Few other points:
-a internet friend still pays for my FFXI account, she’s awesome =) MAKY!
-I’ve probably made around $15,000 from video games, mostly from MMOs
-I don’t have a lot of common knowledge due to my time being away from reality
